This is my last week of maternity leave, so I’m trying to photograph a few of the projects that I’ve recently completed around the house. One that I’m really excited to share, is some additional progres I made on the basement family room. If you remember, I did phase 1, a few months ago. During that phase, I added faux beadboard to one wall. I liked it so much, that I decided to finish out the room.
Can you believe this is a basement? So nice, right? In addition to adding the paneling wallpaper to all the walls, I added some inexpensive Ikea Hilja curtains. The trick was to do a pinch pleat and go super high to make the room look way more elegant. For the pinch pleat, I used Riktig Curtain Hook and Syrlig Curtain Ring. And then I added a faux olive tree from Amazon that looks better than I even expected and was under $100.
I found an 8×10 Jute rug for free on Offer Up and I layered it under a smaller rug from World Market. It really looks so much more cozy now and it adds some visual interest and distracts me from the carpet that I hate so much.
I hung some of Joey’s artwork to round out the space.
I’m still loving having the Samsung Frame TV down here. I’ll probably swap out the art for something a little more abstract now that the room is coming together.
Overall, it looks like a bright, beautiful space, and I’m so happy that I was able to transform this on a budget.
