This week’s “Look for Less: Design Style” features a very unique and fun product, the Duii Table Lamp. This adorable lamp was released in 2011 and is part of the Foscarini and Diesel collaboration. You would be hard pressed to find a lamp with more character than the Duii. It’s name is even evocative of a cartoon character–Donald Duck’s nephew, Dewey. It has a comical appearance, reminiscent of the Pixar lamp; but you know what isn’t comical? The price! I’ve seen it retail anywhere from $500 – $800. $800 for a lamp?!? That seems a little steep to me.
For a mere $30, you could purchase the FORSÅ work lamp from Ikea. Much like the Duii, the FORSÅ has lots of spunk. Although its base and head differ slightly, it features the same adjustable arm that makes the Duii so functional. In the US, it is available in both nickel plated and black. I personally prefer the sleek look of the nickel plated version as shown below.
