If you think back to our kitchen tour, you may remember the pendant light we had hanging above the kitchen island.ย ย It was blue and had three dangling lights.ย It was functional, but very bland.ย I’d been wanting to get rid of it for a while, but I hadn’t found a reasonable alternative….
…until I stumbled upon the Firefly Pendant Lamp from CB2.ย It retails for $199, which is more expensive than I would have liked, but I couldn’t pass it up.ย It’s a perfect fit for our kitchen.
We hired an electrician to install it, since neither Joey nor I are qualified.ย It was well worth the extra cost.ย I’m pretty sure that someone would have gotten electrocuted had Joey or I undertaken the installation.
I originally thought that I might need two, given the length of the island; but in the end, one works fine.
I think two might have been overpowering.
Overall, I would say it was $199 well spent, don’t you think?

I have been debating on these lights for months. They haven’t been in stock but now are available to ship. Was nice to see in your kitchen. I too worry that one will not be enough with a island. Don’t want to bother with two because installation would cost so much more. Do you still love these lights and after having awhile do you still feel they are big enough for your island?

Thank you for replying. Maybe you can help me because I have been looking for the perfect light to go above my kitchen Island for awhile now and getting frustrated. I bought monadnock 1 light inverted pendent by Trent Austin at Wayfair for above my black round dining table that is right next to my island. I love it! Couldn’t be happier! Best choice I have made in awhile. So what to place above the island? I have been looking at the Fireflys for some time now but I just don’t know. My island is 63 inches and my old light is 36 inches. So the fireflys would be much smaller. I would like to get a linear light because I only have one socket. I do have someone that could do the electrical work and put in two others if I want pendents though at a good price. So I could go either way.Thought about just putting two of the monadnocks above the island and maybe loose the beads so it wouldn’t be too flashy. Can you give me your take on all of this or maybe show me some lights you might use? Just need a little help from someone before my head explodes from all these choices.
