So I recognize that I’m a bit extra… okay, a lot extra! But when something bothers me, I can’t stop thinking about it. After making over Florence’s bedroom a few months ago, I was never really satisfied with the final product. She’s 5 and has questionable taste (if it’s pink and sparkly, she’s happy), so she she thought the room was great, but I didn’t. I sat on it for a few months, trying to figure out what was wrong. I zeroed in on 2 things… one, the baseboards were white, which really didn’t go with the pink board and batten and two, the window seat was boring. I had left the wall white, which is typically my vibe, but it really wasn’t working. Also, the gray seat covers were awful. See below for proof. I don’t have a great before photo, but you can see it in the corner of this photo…

Before

The baseboards and cushion covers were an easy fix, and made a huge difference. However, the window seat wall took a bit more thought. I ordered a few wallpaper swatches from Spoonflower, and I found one that Florence and I loved, but once I calculated the amount I needed, the cost was INSANE. Like who has enough money for that? So I decided to see if I could find a cheaper alternative and I landed on this Opal House temporary wallpaper from Target. I ordered 2 rolls on a whim, and decided if I didn’t like them, I’d return them. Luckily, they were perfect. 10/10 would recommend! I also took a chance on wallpapering the ceiling of the seat and it was the right call. It makes the space feel a lot more finished.

After

You might also notice that the original pink princess tent is MIA… well it lived a long life, but unfortunately it collapsed one day. So I took that as a sign from the design gods to replace it. I found a cute, affordable pink canopy on Amazon.

Here’s another side by side for comparison

I’m much happier now! The rest of her room is pretty much the same as before.

Am I totally done tinkering with the design in here… probably not, but I’m satisfied enough to give it a break.
