Zuzu the poodle has a bad habit of ripping the stuffing out of pillows.ย  It is one of her favorite pastimes.ย  In fact, just a few weeks ago, she decided to rip into one of my favorite Anthropologie pillows.ย  While I was rather angry with her for her destructive behavior, I decided to look on the bright side–perhaps Zuzu was encouraging me to redecorate.ย  Maybe she just doesn’t like the Anthropologie aesthetic.ย  So armed with a thrift store pillow case, a stencil set, a black fabric marker, and my sewing machine, I set out to make a new pillow cover, one that maybe Zuzu would appreciate. The result is a chic pillow, that will likely be destroyed by Zuzu within a few weeks, but for now, looks lovely on my sofa.ย  I was inspired by Wit & Whistle, which published a great tutorial that walked me through the process of stenciling the pillow.ย  I encourage you to check out that tutorial here.

I chose to stencil the lyrics of one of my favorite songs, “Used to Be” by Beach House, on the pillow case. ย  In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m kind of an obsessive Beach House fan.ย  Teen Dream is one of my favorite albums of all time.
