Our baby boy’s nursery is almost done! It took me a while to get my act together, but I finally did, and it’s exactly what I wanted – it’s gender neutral, which might not be everyone’s style, but it feels just right to me.

When we moved in, the beadboard was painted green and I had a really hard time envisioning what it was going to look like. I just knew that I hated the green, especially because the beadboard only goes up about 1/3 of the wall, which seems too low. See below for the listing photo. I really, really couldn’t get on board with it.

After a lot of debate (and an instagram poll – follow me @ffolkewife), I decided to go with a creamy white for the whole room.  Then I commissioned Joey to help me with some artwork. He did a line drawing and a textured painting. The textured painting is my favorite. It’s in the gold frame and it looks very boring from far away, but when you get close, you see the layers and it’s fantastic. It was a very easy DIY. All it took was a few layers of Joint Compound.

I’m reusing a lot of stuff from Florence’s nursery, but I did splurge on a few things: I got a new Babyletto Rocker, a fantastic faux olive tree (Threshold Studio McGee), and a tapestry from Society 6.

Everything else was thrifted and/or leftover from Florence. The crib was from Land of Nod (now Crate & Kids), I got the Keekaru Peanut Changer second hand, the lamp, rug and dresser are thrifted, and the rocker is vintage (it was in my room when I was a baby!). And then of course, I posted about the swing makeover here. Now, the only thing missing is the baby! Only 2 months to go!
