Can you believe it’s almost Christmas? Where has this year gone? And with baby Ekloff due any day, I really wanted to make Christmas 2021 special for Florence’s sake. I don’t want her to feel like she got cheated out of a big holiday celebration with the impending arrival of her brother.  So we started decorating early and went all out. The first thing was the tree, of course! Right when we moved into our new house, I knew that our living room was meant for a large Christmas tree and boy was I right. In our old house, it was always a struggle to find a corner for the tree, but in this house, the choice was obvious… bay windows for the win!

We went with a live tree again, and I don’t think I’m ever going back to artificial. I grew up with artificial trees, but nothing beats a real, live tree. I am most definitely allergic to it, but I can snuffle for a month or so and tough it out. And do you notice anything adorable (and ridiculous) under this tree?

Why yes, those are cardboard deer that I wrapped a few presents in. I got the idea from mer mag, which is one of my favorite instagram accounts to follow. You can buy the template on their website here. Once you make one, it’s pretty straightforward to replicate in different sizes. We also adapted the template a little bit to have the deer laying down vs standing.

So stinking adorable. For the mantle, I kept is simple with an artificial garland from Goodwill, but my secret is that I add in eucalyptus to give it some additional texture and movement. I also added a ton of vintage candles and a beautiful print from Juniper Print shop for the Frame TV. The print is Otis, for those of you wondering.

Speaking of prints from Juniper Print Shop, I also got a massive print for above our new couch during their pre-black friday sale. It’s called Sycamores and I got the 40×55. It goes perfectly with the couch, which was an AllModern find. I had originally ordered a different couch on Crate & Barrel, but after waiting for over 6 months, and with no delivery date in sight (thanks to supply chain backups), I cancelled my order and found this beauty, which shipped within a week.

I’ll leave you with a couple more photos of the room in all it’s glory. Zuzu is a big fan of the couch, as you can tell.  Xmas2021LivingRoom3

A few other DIYs you might notice in these photos are the paper snowflakes in the window and the orange garland. I love Christmas crafts so much.

Well that’s it! Happy Holidays!
