My life has been pretty crazy lately, which has taken a toll on my crafting time; however, this past weekend, I finally had some time to get a few projects done.  The first craft I want to share is this great piece of wall art. It reminds me of a cross between a character from the Muppets and Where the Wild Things Are.  Something about it is both demur and exotic at the same time, which I love.

Materials:

Scissors, Fabric Glue, Felt, & a Frame (without glass)

Instructions:

1. Cut the felt into strips of equal height and width.  It is important that the width be the same as the width of the frame you plan on using.  Then cut one side of each strip into the scallop shape.

Note: Some of the strips should should begin with the outside of the curve on the edge of the felt.  Others should begin with the center of the curve on the edge of the felt.  This will create the alternating pattern needed to create scallops.

2. Cut a piece of cardboard to the same height and width of the frame’s interior.  Then, begin arranging the scallops in the alternating pattern.  After creating the pattern, check the frame height to ensure that it will fit

3. Using the fabric glue, begin pasting the strips of felt onto the cardboard.  You will have to start at the bottom and work your ways up.  When you are done, let the glue dry, then place the completed art work into the frame.

Isn’t it great? On a side note, I really love the frame that I used.  It is thrifted from Goodwill Outlet.
